silkpearl.shop was created when I realized that retailers were creating fashion, costume and plated jewelry that was not made to last. The short lifecycle of this jewelry is incredibly wasteful and contributes significantly to our earth’s deterioration. 

At the same time, I considered fine jewelry a luxury item due to its price tag. However, no matter how much I liked the design or item, I simply could not justify or even afford the price. 

After many years of having my skin turn green from nickel and copper based costume jewelry, I started to try out gold-plated jewelry. But even gold-plated items could not last my daily wear. I then conducted extensive research and experimentation and I discovered the existence of gold fill! I was so shocked to learn how close in quality gold fill was to solid gold and was even more impressed by its affordable price tag. 

I wear my jewelry to sleep, in the shower and even whilst working out so it was imperative that whatever I created could withstand everyday wear. Once I realised I had discovered the secret ingredient to long-lasting yet affordable gold jewelry, shhh it’s gold fill, I knew I had to share it with the world. Now everyone can enjoy high-quality ethical jewelry without the crazy price tag.
